Trauma remains the number one cause of death in children over the age of one.

To help prevent unnecessary injuries to children, UMC has partnered with the Championship Auto Racing Auxiliary (CARA) to provide car seats for any child in need who is treated at The Trauma Center or the Children’s Emergency Department.

Thanks to CARA, car seats are available for children of all ages. Over 20 UMC personnel have attended training sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to educate parents on correct use of car seats and assure proper installation in their car.
